BBC

The Challenge

The BBC was seeking a solution to improve the efficiency of the process of ensuring pre-recorded content for local radio is compliant. At the BBC every piece of pre-recorded content must go through a compliance process to ensure it meets editorial policies. This can produce a high volume of compliance requests which need to be processed quickly and efficiently to ensure content is available for broadcast.

The BBC had been using a manual process, however the sheer volume of requests was increasingly making it difficult to manage and demonstrate an audit trail in advance of broadcast.

As a trusted supplier to the BBC, CoreStream were asked to combine their collective knowledge and expertise and propose a solution that could deal with this unusual set of requirements.

The Solution

The solution was a bespoke development that provides the BBC with a high volume compliance platform that manages the process from the completion of a digital compliance form through to all approval stages. Upon completion of each request all the completed documentation is stored within an auditable repository.

The Outcome

The BBC can now audit historical cases and demonstrate due process as and when required. Many thousands of compliance forms have been processed resulting in measurable efficiency benefits (reported to the BBC Finance Committee).
